Aspert,
as a non-profit organisation, was founded in 1998 by a
group of scientists and engineers in charge of research
management mainly in French public research organisations.
Mission statement
Aspert aims
at:
•- Promoting
foresight studies, evaluations and benchmarking.
•- Developing methodologies and disseminating best
practices in public research management.
•- Networking with the various actors in the area
of research management and enhancing exchange of experiences.
•- Participating in public debates on key issues
for research, at the national and European level.
Activities
Since the very
beginning, our activities include:
•- Early evening seminars “Libres
Echanges” or “Open debates”
Chaired by Professor Rémi Barré, at the
Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM).
About six times a year, research managers, experts or
scholars working on key issues related to research management,
innovation, science and society, are invited for a talk,
followed by a debate with the audience.

•- A 2-day workshop
every other year in Paris
Open to the various actors in research policy and management
of public reserach
- In October 1999 at the CNAM, Aspert'99
focused on « Public Research and Laboratory
Strategies: Methods and best Practices ».
- In October 2001 at the Pasteur Institute, Aspert’01
entitled « Public Research Managers and Researchers:
a common struggle? », brought together some
250 persons to discuss upon the reasons for their alleged
opposition.
- In January 2004 at the Ecole de Chimie, Aspert’04
was co-organized with the French association Femmes
et Sciences and addressed the lack of « Attractiveness
of S&T training ». The first day was devoted
to the loss of interest in research carriers in the public
sector, while the second day focused on S&T carrier
opportunities for girls and boys in both the public and
private sector.
